Welcome Future Meet Up Leader!

Have you ever wondered how you can make the world a better place? How could you build more equitable spaces and change culture? Or how could you make your kids proud? If you have, being a Meet Up Leader just might be the role for you! 

Being a Meet Up Leader is a small time commitment with a big impact.

  • Locate an all-access 3km race route for run, walk, or wheel.

  • Recruit 30 people of any age, gender identity and ability, to join your event.

  • Attend 3 support meetings with the Meet Up Leader Coach and other Meet Up Leaders between January and March in order to bounce ideas, troubleshoot issues and network.

  • Publicly promote your event and your involvement in order to generate awareness of the cause as well as attract as many participants as possible.

  • On Race Day you will need to be there early to check the route, greet people , pass on safety info.

  • On Race Day you will share our Secret 3K story (provided to you in advance) to explain why this cause is important.

  • On Race Day you will take a group photo and share it using #Secret3K

What’s Involved?

The Meet Up Leader role is an opportunity for you to connect with your community, build a network of like minded participants and gain experience in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. This position will provide you the space to gain leadership skills, pursue lifelong wellness and continuous learning.

Questions Meet Up Leaders Ask…

  • A Meet Up event can be done anywhere and commits to hosting 30+ people, a marquee location has to be planned and completed in conjunction with a Running Room store and commits to hosting 100+ people. Holding Meet Ups allows us to involve more participants in more places that are convenient to you and your community.

  • We are looking for people who are eager to make a difference in their community, and who are excited to share this opportunity with their network. We also look for people who share our values including:

    • Can any gender do it? Yes!

    • Can any age do it? Yes! (*Under 18 - we recommend finding an adult who will support you)

    • What experience do I need? None is required, but experience in marketing or event planning would be an asset.

    • Can I do it from anywhere in the world? Yes!

    • Can I do it if there’s already a meetup happening in my city? Yes!

    • Can I do it if there’s already a marquee event happening in my city? Yes!

  • Yes. The whole idea of Meet Up events is to make it easier for people to participate. Sometimes people cannot make it to another event in the same city because it is too far away. By hosting multiple events we increase the chance that people can access this great opportunity.

  • You will receive a link to official Race bibs for all participants who register on time.

    Banners for race day can be requested

    Social Media graphics, posters and flyers can be provided depending on your preferred marketing method.

    You will be given a story to share for Race Day.

    • There are 3 meetings held in Jan, early Feb, late Feb about an hour long each.

    • Plan to do 2-3 hours of planning and promotion time.

    • Plan for two hours on Race Day so you can get to the site early and help clean up after the event.

    Race Day Story
